For all orders to Australian addresses, your products are sent from the dōTERRA warehouse in Melbourne.

Standard parcels deliver within 2 to 4 business days. Remote areas may take up to 7 business days. A tracking  ID and link will be provided to you once the item has been despatched.

Earthsun Essentials will exchange products if the returned products were received by the purchaser in damaged condition or were incorrectly sent. Such products must be returned within fifteen (15) days of receipt. Whenever possible, returned products will be replaced with undamaged products. However, when an exchange is not feasible, Earthsun Essentials reserves the right to issue a credit for the amount of the exchanged products.

PROVIDING IT DOESN’T HAVE ANY CARRIER OIL IN IT, AND PROVIDING YOU’VE KEPT THE OIL AWAY FROM HEAT AND LIGHT, YOUR doTERRA ESSENTIAL OIL SHOULD LAST YOU ABOUT 5,000 YEARS!

When King Tutankhamun’s tomb was opened, they found alabaster jars with essential oils in them. When the lids were removed, the oils were still in perfect condition, apart from a bit of waxy build-up around the lid.

I can’t say that this is true about other brands – because when synthetics are present, I’ve had brands that have smelt like chemicals after a year!

However, here’s something you may not know. Essential oil can evaporate through glass, albeit very, very slowly….so in practical terms, you probably won’t have any left in 5,000 years’ time if it’s been kept in its original glass container. And let’s be honest – you really want to be using your essential oils every day, so hopefully, you’d never have oil that sits on the shelf for this many years.

Now let’s talk about what happens if it’s blended with a carrier oil, which applies to some of doTERRA’s blends.

CARRIER OILS DON’T HAVE THE LIFE EXPECTANCY OF ESSENTIAL OILS, SO OVER TIME, THE CARRIER OIL CAN GO RANCID.

In my experience, this can take 5 to 10 years to happen. Your nose will know….and if it’s gone rancid, there’s nothing to do but buy a fresh bottle.

doTERRA uses coconut oil as a carrier oil, as this is a very stable carrier oil, and it’s one that is tolerated on the skin by most people (given that we are now in a world where so many people have nut oil allergies).

Yes, absolutely – but don’t get it onto clothes that are synthetic, eg. stretchy T-shirts, or it will digest some of the synthetic material in the fabric and leave pock-marks. Instead, put it on a towel or laundry bag and add to the wash.

Essential oils are so environmentally attuned that many of them can digest plastics and synthetics, which is the same reason your toilet seat may slowly deteriorate if you have been rubbing essential oils on your body and then sitting on the toilet.

OK, it does take a little bit of practice, especially with the thicker, more resinous oils. At the end of the bottleneck is a plastic dripolator that has a small air hole in it. If you have the air hole pointing downwards, sometimes the oil won’t come out easily due to the vacuum effect, so twist your bottle and see if that makes a difference.

If the drop still won’t come out, check to see if your bottle is almost empty. If so, take out the plastic dripolator and very carefully tilt the bottle to get the last drops out.

USUALLY, YOU WILL GET ABOUT 10 EXTRA DROPS OUT OF THE BOTTLE, EVEN WHEN NO MORE COMES OUT OF THE DRIPOLATOR.

There are also some essential oils (like Vetiver) that are so thick, they won’t easily pass through the dripolator. If it’s not coming out, remove the dripolator and very carefully pour some onto your finger.

Essential oils are aromatic extracts from specific plant parts such as petal, heartwood, peel, stem etc…. There is only a very small amount of oil in the plant part from which the oil is taken. Some oils such as Eucalyptus produce a high yield of oil whereas Rosa Damascena (Rose) requires 30 rose heads to produce 1 drop of pure essential oil. Hence the cost of pure Rose makes it an investment and a worthwhile one at that.

Other factors which contribute to the final delivery and price of pure essential oils include cultivation, farming methods, distillation and finally storage.

Certain oils are not recommended for use during the full term of pregnancy, especially herbs. A reputable company will outline such warnings on their packaging. There are however certain oils such as Lavender, Roman Chamomile and Mandarin which can provide emotional centering and comfort to the mind and body during this time. Above all make sure you choose a CPTG listed oil from a reputable company to ensure its quality before use. Refer to our “Pregnancy” section on this website for the dos and don’ts.

Essential oils can be toxic for pets. Never leave bottles open or in reach of animals. Each pet will differ, so please use caution when diffusing oils around pets. Watch out for changes in their behaviour, such as leaving the room while oils are burning or changes in eating habits. If you notice changes then we recommend to stop using that particular oil.

These oils are known to contain phenols and be toxic to cats/dogs: Peppermint oil, Citrus oils (including Lemon oil), Tea Tree oil, Pine oil, Eucalyptus oil, Cinnamon oil, YlangYlang oil.

The higher the concentration of essential oil, the greater the risk to your pet. If your pet ingests any oils accidentally, go to the veterinarian immediately.
