Lemon is a flowering plant and part of the Rutaceae family. The plants are native to Asia; however, they are grown all around the world. Lemon essential oil is extracted from the rind, which is the most nutrient-dense part of the fruit.
The lemon rinds are cold-pressed to produce the essential oil. This involves using mechanical pressure to squeeze the rind, causing it to release the oil. Approximately 75 lemons are required to produce one 15ml bottle of essential oil.
Due to the purifying properties of Lemon, it is frequently used in air purifiers and cleaning products. However, it is a versatile oil with many uses and benefits. When taken, it may help support the digestive and respiratory systems. Topical application helps to exfoliate the skin, whilst diffusing helps to purify the air in your home. Lemon essential oil may also be used in the kitchen in a variety of ways.
